Shortlisted (Top 17) would need to write a pre-qualification exam (PQE) to determine those to fill the vacant slot/s (Qualified Top17) and should such student fail to make the ‘Qualified Top17’, such student will automatically take over the position of ‘Qualified State Rep’ for the state.

* Shortlisted State Rep that is dependent on the outcome of the PQE of Shortlisted(Top17).

** Shortlisted State Rep that is dependent on the outcome of the PQE of Shortlisted (Top 17) & State Tie-Break. Tied students at the state level will need a PQE to break the State Rep slot after the determination of the Shortlisted(Top17).

This is to inform the General Public, Principals / Teachers / Parents / Guardians, that the online registration for the 2020 Cowbellpedia Mathematics Competition has began.

Online Registration for the 2020 CowbellPedia National Examination will begin on 1st January, 2020. Early registrations are encouraged .

Registration for this year’s competition is STRICTLY ONLINE and Registration is FREE!

This competition is sponsored by your favorite brand, Cowbell – Our Milk. It is approved by the Federal Ministry of Education and endorsed by National Examination Council (NECO).

In the last 21 years, Cowbell has been involved in the sponsorship of a Mathematics competition in Secondary Schools in Nigeria.

Objectives

1.      The objectives have remained the same over these years, as we believe in the total development of the Nigerian Child.

2.     To awaken the consciousness and interest in mathematics among Junior and Senior secondary school students in Nigeria.

3.     To improve students’ performance in Mathematics Pan Nigeria.

4.     To create a credible platform for identifying outstanding students and encouraging excellence in Mathematics.

5.     To provide a creditable platform that will reward excellence in the subject area of mathematics over the years, this platform for both Junior and Senior Secondary categories has evolved from the humble beginning of Lagos state only examination to a nationwide examination that has received the support of the Federal Ministry of Education.

Since 2016, Cowbell-Our Milk has decided to bring all Mathematics intervention activities under one umbrella, COWBELLPEDIA.

1. Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics TV Quiz Show: is a national mathematics competition that is aired on major TV stations.

2. Cowbellpedia Radio Programme: is a 5-minute interactive radio Mathematics program on major stations pan Nigeria.

3. Cowbellpedia Mathematics Mobile App: This can be downloaded on Google Play Store and Apple Store. With this App, students can test and sharpen their knowledge on the subject area of Mathematics.

4. Cowbellpedia Mathematics Past Questions: These are documents of the past questions of the previous year’s national examination. With these documents, it will serve as a learning guide to students or be used to coach or brush them up, also enlighten them, or create awareness of the type of questions they will be expecting during the written examinations

5. Cowbellpedia Compendium Past Questions: These are samples or questions of the Cowbellpedia TV Quiz Competition which is being held live and broadcast on national tv. This compendium, it will serve as a learning guide to students or be used to coach or brush them up, also enlighten them or create awareness of the type of questions they will be expecting during the TV Quiz Test.

6. Cowbellpedia Academy: Cowbellpedia Academy is one of the initiatives sponsored by Promasidor, the makers of Cowbell – Our Milk to mark the 20th anniversary of the relationship between Cowbell and Mathematics. 

The Cowbellpedia Academy is a workshop specifically created to drive support and interest in the Mathematics/ Science of the Nigerian students in collaboration with foreign Universities/Dons who will be on the ground to workshop students and teachers across Nigeria.

All these are geared towards nourishing the dreams of Nigerian children by providing a platform that recognizes and rewards excellence in Mathematics in addition to the quality nutrition that is provided by the Cowbell brand for the nourishment of the Nigerian populace, especially children.

We wish to express our sincere gratitude for the total support and encouragement given thus far and to seek your continued support in our efforts to help our students develop an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

The competition is in two stages:

  • Stage 1: Qualifying Written Examination
  • Stage 2: TV Quiz Show

Stage 1 (Qualifying Written Examination)

How to enter

The Mathematics Competition is open to students from 10 – 18 years of age attending full-time Secondary Education in both Public and Private Schools in Nigeria. Entry into this competition is FREE.

Each School is required to present its BEST Ten (10) students in Mathematics (five from JSS3 and five from SSS2), irrespective of sex, religion, tribe, or state of origin, to enhance their chances of qualifying for the next stage of the competition.

To encourage Girl Child Education, we are making a humble appeal that Mixed Schools nominate a minimum of two (2) girls for each category to represent such a school.

1.      Go to www. cowbellpedia.ng

2.     Click on the link to register your school

3.     Fill out the form and submit it. Ensure to fill all required fields.

4.     An email will be sent to the School and Primary contact email addresses provided when filling out the form.

5.     Use the link in the email received to verify the email addresses. The school email address must be verified before you can log in.

6.    Once the school email is verified, log in to the portal using the school email and password used to register.

7.     On successful login, you click on the Add Candidates under Candidate Management.

8.    Fill in the candidate’s information on the form, upload the candidate’s picture and click the Save Draft button.

9.    You will need to save draft information for 5 candidates before you can submit their registration. If your school is a mixed school, at least 2 of the candidates must be female or you won’t be able to complete the registration.

10. After creating the draft registration for 5 candidates in a category (junior/senior) button will be shown on the page to “Register junior/senior candidates”. Click the button to complete the registration of candidates for that category.

11.   A confirmation slip will be generated for you to download and will also be mailed to the School, candidate, and parent/guardian email address.

12.  Print this confirmation slip and have it stamped and signed by the school principal.

13.  The confirmation slip will be required for admitting candidates at the examination venue.

General Rules and Regulations

1.      Stage 1 (Qualifying Written Examination) will hold in all states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at 10:00 am. However, accreditation of all candidates begins at 8:00 am.

2.     Latecomers will not be allowed to write the examination.

3.     Candidates are to come along with only a pencil, biro, eraser, ruler, and statistical table, NO CALCULATORS WILL BE ALLOWED.

4.     Any act of misconduct will lead to the disqualification of the candidate.

5.     All candidates MUST be in their School Uniform.

6.    Please refer to the examination center list to check for the center nearest you.

7.     The competition is ONLY open to Students in JSS 3 and SSS 2. Candidates in any other Grade/Class will be disqualified.

8.    The decision of NECO and Promasidor Nigeria Limited is final. We shall not enter into any correspondence with anyone regarding the conduct of this examination.

COWBELLPEDIA 2020 NATIONAL EXAMINATION NOTICE BOARD:   

 All candidates should please note that upon successful registration for the Cowbellpedia examination, a confirmation slip will be sent to the school’s email. Each candidate is required to bring along to the examination center a copy of this confirmation slip, duly signed by the school principal.

Schools that registered or participated in the 2019 Cowbellpedia do not need to register their schools this year. 

All that is required to participate this year is the details of the students representing such schools. To do this:

1. Visit www. cowbellpedia.ng

2. Click on login on the top right corner of the page.

3. Fill out the forms for all representatives of the school in both categories (If applicable)

4. Ensure the profile of each student shows 100% completed

5. Highlight all student’s profiles by clicking on all 5 profiles at once then click on the register button.

6. Upon successful registration, generate examination slips by clicking on the menu button (a 3-dot sign) on the top right corner of each student’s profile.

7. Download and print slips. Copies of the slips will also be emailed to the school.

8. Students are to bring along duly signed examination slips to the examination centers on the scheduled examination date.

DEADLINE

Online Registration Starts On 1st January 2020 and will end on Sunday, March 8th, 2020 at 6:00 PM.

Note:

  • Candidates are advised to check their results online at www.cowbellpedia.ng as from Saturday, June 1st, 2020.
  • We strongly recommend that students sit for the examination at the centers nearest to them.
  • Results can also be obtained from respective NECO State offices, State Ministries of Education, and Promasidor Nigeria Ltd Offices nationwide.
  • Only qualified candidates will be contacted for the second stage of the Quiz competition.
  • The decision of NECO and Promasidor Nigeria Limited is final. We shall not enter into any correspondence with anyone regarding the conduct of this examination

The Second Stage of the examination would be in an exciting TV Quiz format – Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and finals.

Promasidor, the official sponsors for undisclosed reasons cancelled the anticipated nation wide event. Well 2022 is on the way now and the big question is will Cowbellpedia 2022 hold? Should one begin preparations or wait for the official announcement. Although the Cowbellpedia sponsors didn’t disclose the reason, it’s quite obvious that it could be traced to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whatever the reason for the cancellation, there’s high optimism that Cowbellpedia 2022 will hold. Cowbellpedia 2022 will hold, although the date is not yet announced, It’s likely to take place around February. Preparations should begin immediately for all participants. Even if Cowbellpedia doesn’t hold, Cowbellpedia preparations can help you answer other mathematics and high profile competitions.

The Cowbellpedia Mathematics Competition has 2 rounds. The Round 1 is the State Round. The top 100 best scores from the country are selected along side the best student from each state. Each of the students is invited to Lagos where the finals takes place. At this stage, questions are given with limited time to answer (usually a few seconds). To pass the Round one of the Cowbell Mathematics Competition students must:

  1. Have a good understanding of the Secondary School Mathematics Curriculum: Cowbellpedia questions aren’t taken from advanced mathematics like the NMC Olympiad. All Cowbellpedia questions are taken from the Secondary School Syllabus. A good understanding of all the basics in Junior Secondary School Mathematics (for junior level) and Senior Secondary School Mathematics (for senior level) will give students a great edge. The Mathematics Syllabus for both Junior and Senior Secondary Schools can be extracted from the MAN Mathematics Textbook (Table of Contents)
  2. Study Cowbellpedia Past Questions:The Importance of Cowbellpedia Past Questions cannot be overemphasized. Studying these past questions, help you understand the nature of Cowbellpedia questions and the best approaches used in solving them.

2. National Mathematical Center (NMC) Mathematics Olympiad: The NMC Olympiad is very popular too. This is because of the final rewards. Students get a trip to a foreign country and Scholarships to any African Country of their Choice.

Stages: The Round 1 of the NMC Olympiad is the State Round. It is held in every State in Nigeria. Full details about registration can be gotten from the various State Ministries of Education and the NMC Olympiad Website.

The Round 2 takes place in the various states also. The best students in the country (usually 10-15 in number) from each category (senior and junior) are then taken to the NMC Center in Abuja where final selection is done. Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN) Olympiad Mathematics Competition: The MAN Olympiad is also popular and is organized by the most popular Mathematics body in Nigeria, Mathematical Association of Nigeria. It has 3 stages, the Local Government, State and National Stages. The State Winners Receive cash prizes. The National Stage is held in Lagos where cash prizes are also awarded to the the best Students.

Date: The date for the MAN Olympiad varies from year to year. Information regarding the competition can be gotten from the various State Ministries of Education.

4. International Youth Mathematics Challenge: This competition is held every year and the registration is strictly online. It is a high profile African mathematics competition and the rewards are worth it.

Cowbellpedia 2021, 2022 Mathematics Competition Suspended Indefinitely UPDATED

Promasidor Suspends 2021 Cowbellpedia Secondary School Mathematics Tv Quiz Show/ CowbellOurMilk Quiz Competition Registration and Examination Exercise Indefinitely.(Cowbellpedia will not hold in 2021)

Information received confirms that the Promasidor producers  of Cowbell Our Milk and proud Sponsor of the COWBELLPEDIA Secondary School Mathematics Tv Quiz Show has suspended the registration and activities of the competition for the Year 2021.

The 2021 Cowbellpedia Mathematics TV Quiz online registration exercise which commenced on 1st January, 2021 only lasted for a week before the registration portal was closed without prior notice to schools, students, teachers, individual candidates and the general public.


As days went by and weeks into months there was no valid  information or announcement from the organizers of the show stating the reasons for the sudden suspension of registration exercise leaving the public in a state of confusion.

huffstack.com (360trendic Host) later received an information from one of the Schools who were fortunate to have registered before the portal was shut down that the competition sponsorship have been withdrawn by Promasidor with immediate effect as text messages were sent to Schools and candidates  who already registered within that one week frame.

Below is an excerpt of the text message been dispatched to registered schools phone number.

 ‘Please, be informed that COWBELLPEDIA has been suspended by PROMASIDOR, the sponsor of the competition with immediate effect. Regrets.

Due to the rise in  questions and inquiries from candidates, teachers  and schools on the sudden suspension of the 2020/2021 Cowbellpedia registration exercise, Promassidor issued a notice via the Cowbellmilk official Facebook Page giving reasons that the suspension was necessary in-order for the competition to be revamped(re-strategized).

The Big question rising now is Will the Competition still hold this year 2021 and other years to come? well thats not clear to us either,  because the reason for the actual suspension was not made public.

Stage One-State level (National Written Examination)

At the end of the written National Qualifying examination which takes in all the 36 states and FCT, top performing students and teachers from each state are rewarded for excellence performance as listed below:

4.      Text books and Computer Systems are given to the winners’ schools of winning students.

Some special recognitions are given to:

1.      Best Students in the Cowbellpedia quiz 60 Seconds of Fame (Student who answered highest number of Questions in 60 Seconds time frame).

2.      Benson Oweka cowbellpedia Prize: usually given to the most consistent School in the last three(3) years of the Competition.

3.      Best Teacher of the year award
