1. Cowbellpedia

Despite not being hosted for 3 consecutive years, the Cowbellpedia Mathematics Competition remains the most breathtaking and anticipated mathematics competition in Nigeria, with thousands of student participating. The Cowbellpedia TV Quiz is the apex of the quiz competition where events like the cowbellpedia 60secs of fame takes place.

The Cowbellpedia prizes are also interesting- The grand winner gets a 2 Million Naira Cash prize, alongside other benefits. The State Champions get as much as N50,000 cash prize.

This competition is open to all private and public schools in Nigeria and accepts JSS3 and SSS2 students.

2. National Mathematical Centre (NMC) Mathematics Olympiad

The National Mathematical Centre (NMC) Mathematics Olympiad falls second on our list. This competition is probably popular because of its grand prize. Each year, winners get to represent Nigeria in a stipulated foreign country. The 2022 finals will take place in Oslo, Norway. Those who represent the country also get an opportunity to study in any African University of their choice.

The state prizes include medals and certificates while winners at the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), which is the grand finale, get cash prizes, medals and scholarship opportunities.

This competition is open to all private and public schools in Nigeria and accepts JSS1- SSS2 students.

3. IYMC (International Youth Mathematics Challenge)

The International Youth Mathematics Challenge is a high profile African Mathematics competition held every year. The registration is performed via the official IYMC website.

The grand prize for the competition is N300,000.

This competition is open to all private and public schools in Nigeria.

4. MAN Olympiad

This competition is organized by the most popular Mathematics body in Nigeria, the Mathematical Association of Nigeria.

The competition is also highly anticipated and has many participating schools across Nigeria. It has 3 stages zonal, state and national.

The state prizes include cash and state winners get to represent their state at the National stage in Lagos, where winners get cash prizes.

This competition is open to all private and public schools in Nigeria and accepts JSS1 – SSS2 students.

5. Cruxlearning Mathematics Contest

Cruxlearning Mathematics Contest Nigeria is an Annual Secondary School Mathematics competition designed to identify and reward excellent students and help them rely more on critical thinking to solve everyday challenges. Enrollment and participation is totally free.

The competition comes in two stages:

STAGE 1 is a National online qualifying examination, open to all eligible students registered by their schools across Nigeria including the FCT (Federal Capital Territory)

The Top 54 students (National) from Stage 1 (Online Exams) are invited for the STAGE 2 (finals) in Lagos and stand a chance to become the overall winner of the Cruxlearning Mathematics Contest, Nigeria.
