The Academic Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) has commenced a 2 months strike. This phase of the strike was announced on Monday 14th 2022. Note that the Union had earlier announced a 1 month warning strike and chose to add 2 more months because of the Government’s poor response.

With this strike announced, the question comes to mind. When will the 2022 ASUU strike end? And what demands must be met for ASUU to call off the strike? All things being equal, the ASUU 2022 strike will end on the 6th of May, if the Unions demands are met.

The federal government has only addressed 2 out of ASUU’s 8 demands, including the visitation panel to federal universities.  

When Will ASUU Call Off the 2022/2023 strike?

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced 6th May 2022 as the latest Official date to call off STRIKE 2022.

This means that ASUU will call off its two-month Strike on the 6th May 2022.

However, if the Federal Government fails to meet ASUU’s demands the strike will not be called off and it will be INDEFINITE.

The last time ASUU embarked on a strike (in 2020) the strike lasted for 9 months after the Federal Government met the Union’s demands. The only guarantee for resumption of schools is meeting the demands of the Union.

Most students are fed up and wish to get back to school but it’s important to note that the strike will not be called off till ASUU’s demands are met.

From the response of the Federal Government so far, things are looking very complicated.
