It’s so easy to find interesting things to read online, but it’s tricky to find the time to read them. Fortunately it’s a snap to send all those great articles to your Kindle so you can read them at a convenient time.

There are tons of tools that offer some sort of Send-to-Kindle functionality, but they aren’t all created equal. Rather than give you a single solution and call it a day, we’re going to highlight a few tools we’ve used over the years with great success and suggest (based on their long track records and stability) you can pick the one that fits best with your workflow. The first is Tenderizer, a simple one-click article formatter. The second is using a service like Instapaper or Pocket, which let you save your articles for reading later on Kindle and in mobile apps for iOS and Android.

One-Click Sending with Tenderizer

If you’re looking for the most dead-simple tool around, we’d strongly suggest you check out Tenderizer (formerly known as Kindlebility).

It’s been around since 2011 (we’ve been using it since then without a hitch) and the project is completely open-source. If you were so inclined you could download the source code, read over it, and even host your Tinderizer system on your private server to maintain total control over the system.

Tinderizer is a bookmarklet and is completely browser/OS agnostic. As long as you’re using a modern web browser, you can use it. When reading an article, you can click a single button to send it to your Kindle, formatted and optimized.

To use Tenderizer, just visit the main page and follow the little six-step walk-through. You’ll need to log into your Amazon account and navigate to Your Account > Manage Your Content and Devices and click on the Settings tab.

Scroll down to the “Approved Personal Document E-mail List” section. This is where you whitelist email addresses you wish to permit to send documents to your Kindle account. Click “Add a new approved e-mail address” and input kindle@darkhelmetlive.com like so:

Once you’ve whitelisted the Tenderizer email, the next step is to create the custom bookmarklet. First, grab your Kindle email address. You can find your Kindle email on the same page you created the whitelist entry. Look at the top of the Settings tab for “Send-to-Kindle E-Mail Settings”. There you need to locate the specific email address linked to the Kindle you wish to send the documents to (typically it’s your firstnamelastname@kindle.com and a variation thereof like firstnamelastname90@kindle.com for your secondary Kindles and Kindle apps).

Enter that address into Tenderizer and click next to generate the bookmarklet.

Drag that huge “Send to my Kindle!” link, by clicking and holding, right up to your browser toolbar.

Once the bookmarklet is in place, you can click it while reading an article you wish to send to your Kindle. When you do so, you’ll see a little notification window in the upper left corner telling you what’s going on:

Make sure your Kindle is connected to either Wi-Fi or the 3G network. The new item should download automatically (select Menu > Sync and Check for New Items if it doesn’t appear). Here’s a screenshot of how nice one of our articles looks:

Once you have the bookmarklet set up, you’re good to go for…well, forever. We’ve been using Tinderizer since 2011 and the only time we’ve had to even check in on the site is when Amazon’s legal department made them change from Kindlebility to Tenderizer (and even then, it took 20 seconds to make a new bookmarklet).

That’s all there is to it; for every article you want to read on your Kindle, click the bookmarklet, and the Tenderizer server will ship a neatly formatted document to your Kindle. If it’s so simple, why even bother with anything else? Well, if you use Tenderizer a lot, you’ll notice one thing right away: every article you clip and send to your Kindle is its document. If you clip a ton of articles to read later you’ll have pages worth of them on your Kindle. If you’re not a big fan of clutter, you might want to take a look at our next technique.

One-Click Sending with Instapaper or Pocket

Now, Tenderizer gets the job done, but if you use a read-it-later service like Instapaper or Pocket, you can integrate those with your Kindle instead. That way, whenever you send an article to one of those services, it also gets sent to your Kindle. You can even combine articles into one tidy digest with the articles arranged like chapters in a book.

How to Send to Kindle with Instapaper

If you’re looking for a read-it-later solution for your Kindle,  Instapaper is a free and streamlined option that covers both the Send-to-Kindle bit and the archive-for-later bit in an easy-to-use package—no third party tricks needed. Even more enticing, Instapaper recently consolidated their free and premium user accounts into one so all users now get the premium feature bundle.

You’ll need to visit the Instapaper website and sign up for a free account. To take advantage of Instapaper’s Kindle-friendly delivery services you’ll need to set up two bookmarklets: one to send articles to your Instapaper account (which will build up your queue for the digest) and one to immediately send articles to your Kindle (for those articles you want to be sent immediately, skipping the digest).

First, hit up the Instapaper “How to Save” guide and either install their handy Chrome extension or drag the “Save to Instapaper” bookmarklet button to the toolbar of your browser. This button will help you populate your Instapaper queue.

Second, pop over to the Settings menu and scroll down to the “Kindle” section. A lot is going on here, but the first thing you need to do is enter your Kindle email address. You can find your Kindle email on the Settings tab of this page. Look for “Send-to-Kindle E-Mail Settings”. There you need to locate the specific email address linked to the Kindle you wish to send the documents to (typically it’s your firstnamelastname@kindle.com and a variation thereof like firstnamelastname90@kindle.com for your secondary Kindles and Kindle apps).

Once you’ve entered that, click on the “Get Kindle Bookmarklet” and drag the resulting “Send to Kindle” button to your toolbar.

Next, you need to get your Instapaper email address so you can whitelist it with Amazon. Next to the bold text “Your Kindle Email Address”  you’ll see a small blue “what’s this?”. Click on the link and it will expand to reveal the following:

Take that *@instapaper address and add it to the approved email list on the Settings tab of your Amazon device settings.

With that taken care of, you’re ready to start using the Instapaper-to-Kindle workflow. You may want to tinker with the extra settings like how many articles to be included with the digest, how often to send the digest, and the threshold trigger for the digest (e.g. don’t send the digest if there isn’t X number of news articles). There’s even a handy override button “Send Articles Now” if you just want to dump the queue and get the digest immediately.

Although the default font setting is slightly different than Tenderizer, it’s still cleanly formatted and easy to read. Even better yet, the easy-to-browse compilation files make it super simple to catch up on all the articles you’ve saved throughout the day/week without opening and closing dozens of individual files on your Kindle.

How to Send to Kindle with Pocket

If you’re new to using a read-it-later service and have no skin in the game, we’d recommend you just use Instapaper. Not only is the premium tier now free, but it handles everything in-house. Pocket is a great read-it-later service but you do need to jump through an extra hoop to get it up and running with your Kindle, as it doesn’t have native Send-to-Kindle functionality.

To use Pocket with your Kindle, you need to sign up for a Pocket account, and then start the process of adding the Pocket bookmarklet–you can find the bookmarklet as well as the Chrome extension here. Just install the Chrome extension or click and drag the bookmarklet to your browser’s toolbar.

The extension/bookmarklet will help you populate your Pocket queue with articles. You can read them in the Pocket apps for iOS or Android, but if you want to send them to your Kindle, you’ll need the help of a third-party service.

Officially, Pocket recommends the free Pocket-to-Kindle service, so that’s the one we’ll be using. Visit the site and click on “Start Here!” to link it to your Pocket account.

You’ll be prompted to authorize P2K to access your Pocket account. Click “Authorize” to confirm. When prompted enter your email address (not your Kindle email address!)

There are two tiers of service: standard and premium. For our purposes (simply getting a recurring digest or sending the current queue to the Kindle) the standard plan will be just fine. Click “Choose Standard”.

Once you’ve made your selection you’ll be inside the P2K dashboard. Click on “Create Delivery” to set up the delivery schedule you want.

The dashboard is very user-friendly. Select “Daily” or “Weekly” to set up your delivery schedule, then customize the day, time, what articles (newest, oldest, time, or random), and specify how many articles. You may also want to check “Archive delivered articles”, which archives the articles on the Pocket service after sending them to your Kindle. Just make sure you read all the articles in your digest because they won’t be in your Pocket queue anymore!

When ready, click “Start Delivery”.

You’ll be prompted to enter your Kindle email address and authorize “delivery@p2k.co” in your Amazon delivery whitelist.

First, grab your Kindle email address. You can find your Kindle email on the Settings tab of this page. Look for “Send-to-Kindle E-Mail Settings”. There you need to locate the specific email address linked to the Kindle you wish to send the documents to (typically it’s your firstnamelastname@kindle.com and a variation thereof like firstnamelastname90@kindle.com for your secondary Kindles and Kindle apps).

Enter that email address when prompted in P2K. Then, from that same page in Amazon’s settings. add “delivery@p2k.co” to your Approved Personal Document E-mail List.

Lastly, click “Start Delivering Now!” to complete the process.

At that point, your delivery schedule is set and you just need to sit back and wait for the digests to come rolling in.

You can block people on Tinder so that they don’t see your profile and you don’t see them while swiping through the app. We’ll show you how to block and unblock users in the Tinder app.

What It Means to Block Someone on Tinder

When you block someone on Tinder, that person can’t see your profile anymore, nor can you see theirs. Tinder prevents both of you from coming across each other’s profiles in the app.

This is a great way to prevent certain people (like your ex or your relatives) from finding you on this dating app. Tinder doesn’t notify a user when you block them.

There are two ways to block someone on Tinder: either by loading the person’s contact details from your phone’s address book or by manually entering the person’s contact information. We’ll show you both ways.

Block Someone on Tinder from Your Contacts

If you want to block someone who’s saved as a contact on your iPhone or Android device, load your contacts in the Tinder app and select the person to block.

To do this, open the Tinder app on your iPhone or Android phone. Tap the profile icon on the bottom bar.

On the profile screen, tap the “Settings” option.

Scroll down the “Settings” page and tap “Block Contacts.”

On the “Block Contacts” screen, tap the “Contacts” tab at the top.

Tap “Import Contacts” in the middle of the screen to load your phone’s contacts in the app.

Select “Yes” when your phone asks whether you want to give Tinder access to your contacts. Then, select the contacts that you want to block and tap “Block Contacts” at the bottom of the app.

Tinder has now blocked your selected users.

Block Someone on Tinder by Manually Adding Their Details

If you don’t want to load your entire contacts list in Tinder, you can manually enter a person’s contact information to block them from your Tinder account.

To do this, open the Tinder app on your Android phone or iPhone. On the bar at the bottom, tap the profile icon (the last icon in the row).

Tap “Settings” on the profile screen.

Scroll down the “Settings” page and tap “Block Contacts.”

On the “Block Contacts” screen, from the top-right corner, select the “+” (plus) sign.

On the “Add Contact” page that opens, tap the “Name” field and enter the name of the person you want to block. Tap the “Add phone number” field and type the person’s phone number. Then, tap “Add email” to enter the person’s email address.

Finally, at the top-right corner of the app, tap “Done.”

Tip: If you don’t know the person’s email address or phone number, leave the field blank, but you must provide one of these to proceed.

Tinder will now match your provided information with its database. If a user is found with this information, they will be blocked from your account. If no user is found, nothing will happen.

How to Unblock People on Tinder

If you change your mind, you can unblock a blocked user on Tinder.

To unblock someone, first, launch the Tinder app on your Android phone or iPhone. Tap the profile icon in the app’s bottom bar.

Select “Settings.”

Scroll down “Settings” and tap “Block Contacts.”

On the “Block Contacts” screen, tap “Blocked” at the top.

Find the person to unblock, and then tap “Unblock” next to their name.

To unblock all of your blocked users, tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the app and select “Unblock All.”

And that’s all there is to keeping annoyance out of your Tinder experience!

You might also want to block those users on social sites like Facebook so that they’ll be completely out of your social media experience.

If you’ve matched with someone on Tinder but you don’t want to carry on the connection any further, you can unmatch them. This removes that person from your profile.

Why Unmatch Someone on Tinder

The most common reason to unmatch someone is that you don’t want to take your conversation any further with that person. It’s also possible that a matched profile has turned out to be a suspicious user. Unmatching them removes them from your profile, preventing any further messages.

Also, you might have mistakenly matched with someone (Maybe you swiped right on a profile without checking it out first.). In this case, unmatching the profile will undo your action.

Unmatch Someone on Tinder

Start by launching the Tinder app on your iPhone or Android phone. On the bar at the bottom, tap the messages icon (which is the third icon in the row).

On the messages screen that opens, select the user that you want to unmatch.

Your chat with that user will open. On this screen, in the top-right corner, tap the shield icon.

You will now see the “Safety Toolkit” menu. Select “Unmatch Only” from this menu.

Tip: If you want to unmatch and report someone (because you think they’re a suspicious user), tap the “Report & Unmatch” option instead.

Tap “Yes, Unmatch” in the prompt that appears.

And you’re all set. Your selected user is now unmatched and you can’t contact each other anymore.

While you’re at it, you might want to block that person on your social media profiles as well, including Facebook and Instagram. It’s equally easy to block people on these social sites.

Once you match with someone on Tinder, you can start making a connection by sending them messages. We’ll show you how to send your first-ever message from both the Tinder site and the Tinder mobile app.

How Tinder Messaging Works

Unlike with other messaging services, you can only send a message to a Tinder user if you match with them. Tinder doesn’t allow users to send messages to just any user.

A match happens when you swipe right on a profile and that profile user also swipes right on your profile. You’ve then considered a match and can send messages to each other.

How to Message with the Tinder Mobile App

On an iPhone or Android phone, you can use the official Tinder app to message your matches.

To do so, launch the Tinder app on your phone.

In the app, from the bar at the bottom, select the chat tab (the bubbles icon).

Tinder’s chat screen will open. Here, from the “New Matches” section, tap the profile that you’d like to send a message.

A message screen with your selected user will open. Tap the text field at the bottom of this screen and type your message. Then, tap “Send” to send the message.

You can add emojis and GIFs as well to your Tinder messages. To add an emoji, access the emoji list on your phone’s keyboard and tap the emoji to send it.

To send a GIF, tap the “GIF” option beside the text field on Tinder’s chat screen.

Select the GIF that you’d like to send, and Tinder will send it to your selected user.

And that’s how you commence your messaging journey on Tinder!

How to Message on the Tinder Website

On a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, use the official Tinder website to send and receive messages from your matches.

To start, launch the Tinder site in a web browser on your computer. Log in to Tinder if you haven’t already done so.

Then, from the sidebar to the left, select the “Matches” tab. Then, choose the user to send a message to.

On the right-hand pane, at the bottom, click the text field and type your message. Then, click “Send” to send the typed message.

You can attach GIFs and stickers to your Tinder messages if you want. To add these items, click the relevant icons beside the text field on the messages window.

And that’s all there is to it.

On a related note, if you don’t wish to receive messages from a certain Tinder user anymore, unmatch them, and they won’t be able to contact you again.

If you’ve finally found your soulmate, you might want to cancel your Tinder Gold subscription. Regardless of how you subscribed, we’ll show you how to cancel using the Tinder website and Tinder mobile apps.

Depending on whether you bought the subscription from Tinder itself, the Google Play Store, or the Apple App Store, you’ll need to use the relevant section below to cancel your Gold subscription.

Cancel Tinder Gold If You Subscribed from Tinder Itself

If you bought Tinder Gold from Tinder itself (by giving them your card details), this section will show you how to cancel your subscription from the Tinder site and the Tinder mobile app.

To use the Tinder mobile app to cancel your subscription, launch it on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

In the app, in the bottom-right corner, tap the profile icon (the last icon in the row).

On the profile screen that opens, tap “Settings.”

In “Settings,” scroll down to the “Payment Account” section. Here, tap “Manage Payment Account.”

Then, tap “Cancel Subscription” to unsubscribe from Tinder Gold.

Note: On the “Manage Payment Account” page, if you see a message stating, “You have no cards saved. To add a card, make a purchase,” that means that your Tinder Gold subscription comes from either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. In this case, follow the relevant section below to cancel your subscription.

To cancel the Tinder Gold subscription from a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, launch the Tinder site in a web browser.

On the site, log in to your account if you haven’t already. Then, from the top-left corner, select your profile icon.

A “My Profile” menu will open. Here, click “Manage Payment Account.”

Then, click “Cancel” to cancel your subscription.

Cancel Tinder Gold from the Google Play Store

If you bought Tinder Gold from the Google Play Store on your Android phone, use the Play Store app on your phone to put an end to the subscription.

Start by launching the Google Play Store on your phone. In the Store, in the top-right corner, tap your profile icon.

From the profile menu that opens, select “Payments & Subscriptions.”

On the “Payments & Subscriptions” page, select “Subscriptions.”

Select “Tinder” in the list of subscriptions.

Lastly, on the “Manage Subscription” screen, tap “Cancel Subscription” to unsubscribe from Tinder Gold.

And you’re all set.

Cancel Tinder Gold from the Apple App Store

On an iPhone, use the Settings app to cancel your Tinder Gold subscription.

First, launch the Settings app on your iPhone. Then, in Settings, tap your account name at the top.

On the “Apple ID” screen that opens, tap “Subscriptions.” Then, choose “Tinder” from the list and tap “Cancel Subscription.”

And that unsubscribes you from the premium Tinder Gold subscription!

Has the time finally come to say goodbye to Tinder? If so, it’s easy to delete your Tinder account for good. We’ll show you how to do this on the Tinder website and the Tinder mobile app.

What Happens When You Delete Your Tinder Account

When you delete your Tinder account, you lose access to your matches, messages, and any other information associated with them.

If you use a paid Tinder plan, and you purchased this plan from either Apple App Store or Google Play Store, your subscription continues even if you delete your account. You must manually cancel your subscription from the respective app store. However, if you subscribed to a paid plan from within the Tinder app on Android or from the Tinder website, your plan will be canceled when you delete your account.

It’s also worth noting that, as of this writing in August 2021, Tinder’s privacy policy states that, though your profile will disappear from the Tinder app and website, the company will keep your information stored on their servers for three months after you delete your account.

Delete a Tinder Account with the Tinder App

On an iPhone or Android phone, use the Tinder app to delete your account.

Start by launching the Tinder app on your phone. In the app, from the bottom bar, select the profile icon (a person’s silhouette) on the far right.

On the profile screen that opens, tap “Settings.”

Scroll the “Settings” page down. Then, at the bottom, tap “Delete Account.”

A “Delete Account” page will open. Here, Tinder will ask that you pause your account instead of permanently deleting it. To proceed with the deletion, tap the “Delete My Account” option.

On the same “Delete Account” page, Tinder will ask the reason you’re leaving the app. If you don’t want to answer this question, then from the top-right corner of the page, select “Skip.”

If you’d like to answer, select an answer from the options on your screen.

And that’s all. Your Tinder account is now deleted.

In the future, if you ever want to use this dating service again, you’ll have to create a new account from scratch.

Delete a Tinder Account with the Tinder Website

If you’re on a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, use the Tinder website to delete your account.

To start, open a web browser on your computer and launch the Tinder site. On the site, from the top-left corner, select your profile icon.

A “My Profile” section will open to the left of the site. Scroll this section down, and at the bottom, click “Delete Account.”

In the “Hide My Account” pop-up that opens, click “Delete My Account.”

Tinder will display one more prompt asking to confirm your choice. In this prompt, again, select “Delete My Account.”

And you’ll no longer publicly exist on Tinder!

It’s good that Tinder lets you permanently delete your account so that nobody can find you once your account is gone. There are many reasons you’d want to do this, including catfishing and ghosting.
