NIS, NCS, NSCDC, INEC, ICPC, NDLEA: Personnel cost Budgets is Maintained

  • The government reduced the overhead cost and capital expenditure of all MDAs.
  • Personnel cost wasn’t touched.
  •  20% cut from the 2020 budget due to the current fall in the price of crude oil in the international market.

NIS, NCS, NSCDC, INEC, and NDLEA: Maintaining personnel expense budgets: Since the Federal Government has halted all hiring, many people have the opportunity to land positions with the Federal and State Governments prior to the release of COVID-19.

Since personnel costs were unaffected by the 2020 budget cuts, there is still optimism because the government will continue to hire after the pandemic. The Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning stated in a letter that all agencies’ personnel costs would be maintained at the present level.

This singular act justifies that; the funds for recruitment are still in tacked, untouched in the budget allocated to all the Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDA)

But all recruitments at the moment are therefore suspended, till when situation normalizes.

This is the year 2020. It will be a plus if the Buhari regime can conclude all these recruitments not minding this difficult situation, covid-19 possesses.

At the moment, the FG is thinking of modalities to approach this economic crisis. The tax amendment bills, Security Votes, and cost of running Ministries offices are looked into for possible merging

The Nigerian Economy is heavily reliant on oil, more than 95% of the 2020 budget was based on the oil benchmark of $60, now that oil is sold for $20/b, it will be very difficult for any reasonable government not to cut down costs and suspend all recruitment at hand

All recruitment which include Nigerian Civil Defense Corp, Central Bank of Nigeria, Independent National Electoral Commission, Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Nigerian Custom Service , Nigeria Immigration Service, Independent Corrupt Practice and other related offenses Commission have been put on hold for now

There will be light at the end of the tunnel, applicant should not give up. When the dust settles, recruitments will commence as planned.
